November - Match Event Settings to Your Audiences

This is a true story. A non-profit held a breakfast recognizing senior citizens one cold November day. Ads said it began at 9 a.m. The event coordinator showed up at 8:45 a.m. and scrambled around hooking up the pancake griddle, making coffee and getting everything in place. Some 50 hungry seniors stood in line - only to find out there were no coffee cups, undercooked pancakes and no syrup. All this took place in a building with no heat.
So many times we pay attention to the details of how the event is supposed to unfold, but forget the obvious - the setting. An unheated building is not the place to hold a late autumn event for seniors who are accustomed to indoor thermostats set between 75-80 degrees. What do you think? Feel free to write your comments.
November Marketing Tip - Match the setting to the audience.
