Radio stations, newspapers, magazines - all typically offer a free way to promote your event on-line. All you have to do is complete the on-line form. Yes, it takes awhile to do - and to research the Web to find the sites - but do it.

And http://www.smallwander.com is another way. This particular site is the only one I know of that is designed specifically for towns with fewer than 10,000 people. The site is undergoing an overhaul it how it looks, feels and the information it offers, but by Christmas 2007, the changes should be in place. It's still live, so I encourage you to visit the site.

If your town signs up, then you can also sign up your event.

The beauty of smallwander.com is that it offers networking opportunities for retailers, downtown organizers, festival producers - to connect with counterparts in similar size towns. I'm unsure of any other site that does this.
