Do you have a media sponsor for your event? If so, be sure to double check ads - TV, radio, cable, newspaper, magazine, outdoor, Internet, blog, direct mail, fax, email blast and anything else you may do.
Read forwards - and backwards. Compare the ad to your written copy. Is it all correct? If so, then pass it along to someone else - get 2 or 3 more sets of eyes to check it before giving final approval.
Does your local newspaper have a copy editor who will review your ad for you? Those people have a special set of eyes to catch errors - particularly if they're someone else's. After the project is approved, take your new best friend out for lunch.
June Tip - See if your local paper has an editor who will help you double check copy for advertising, brochures, press releases, etc. An editor has a trained set of eyes that will help you avoid costly mistakes.
