September Marketing Tip - Hire a professional photographer

With the onset of digital capabilities, it seems everyone is now a shutterbug. There's no longer a need to hire a photographer when you can do it yourself. Right? Wrong. If you're producing an event or market an attraction, do yourself a favor. Hire a professional photographer who is accustomed to shooting for travel publications, routinely uses Photoshop and understands email. You would be surprised how many photographers don't.

Travel photographers are different from those who typically shoot weddings, portraits or even nature. They know how to compose a shot that will be picked up by travel editors. Images tell a story and may not be artsy. I recommend getting photographers who understand the industry and know what type of image sells. They know how to stage shots and get your message across through a picture.

They're trained. You may not be. You can have a million images and none of them be any good. That ends up being lost time, lost opportunities and lost money.

If you look closely, you'll see this isn't a photo of black camels. Those are the shadows coming off the light colored animals. Lighting, angles and composition can mean everything!

September Marketing Tip - Ask around and find out who is a reputable travel photographer in your area. You'll save yourself time, money and frustration.
